Good news for UK Marine Technology    UK Ministers "identified robotics as one of the 'eight great technologies' that can help rebalance the country's economy and drive growth."   And there's plenty of growth in the marine tech sector: "We are now entering a new era of almost constant observation of the oceans."

The UK is among a few leading nations in deep-water capabilities, autonomous robotics, and innovative ocean science technologies -- mostly coming out of Bristol, Aberdeen, and Southampton.

Why is this important?   The use of robotic vehicles in ocean science, exploration, and oil & gas extraction promises to transform our ability to understand ocean dynamics, with all that this implies for ocean life, alternative energy, currents & climate, and environmental protection.
