Some fun facts about the Location & Area
Redbourn Village Hall was built in 1921 as a straw hat factory!
Redbourn is a lovely village between Harpenden to the northeast, St. Albans, and Flamsted to the northwest. It has been settled since at least Saxon times, and is recorded in the Domesday Book. For a long time, Redbourn was the centre of a farming community and had various agricultural industries: a watercress business on the River Ver's water meadows, a watermill producing flour, silk throwing, jam making, and straw plait and straw hat making. During the stagecoach era, Redbourn was known as the 'Street of Inns', with 25 pubs and inns at its peak.
